It’s almost here!
The air is feeling crisper, the leaves are starting to turn beautiful shades of fiery red, burnt orange, and sunset yellow, hearty crockpot meals are replacing barbecued, and our home is beginning its transformation into a cozy little haven. It’s my favourite time of year!
It’s no secret around here that I love fall. Seriously, I love holidays, decorating, the change of season, and browsing the aisle’s of my favourite stores for new fall finds.
Every year, I make a few new purchases to add to the collection, and over time we end up with a variety of interesting and decorative items. Last year, I purchased an assortment of sizes of orange pumpkins at the dollar store and spray painted them a creamy white colour to match with the rest of our decor. Buying and painting and distressing dollar store pumpkins completely changes the look of the pumpkins and really ups the value. Don’t be afraid to buy cheap and put your own spin on something – you’ll end up with something original and completely unique from anyone else!
I love incorporating DIY pieces with some more expensive finds from Michael’s and other craft stores, but it is really all about balance. You also never know what you can find at vintage sales and flea markets. I am really loving signs this year as well, and I wrote on my chalkboard signs with a white chalkboard marker from Michael’s.
I love how all of the pieces come together to create a rustic, contemporary look. This bench used to be a solid brown and was stored away collecting dust in the basement, but now that it is repainted and decorated it adds a nice updated touch to our dining room.
I also had to share a few pics of our darling Addison. She’s 13.5 months, walking everywhere and almost running, amazing us everyday, and is truly our favourite little miracle. I can’t believe she’s been a part of our lives for a whole year already – I honestly can’t remember what life was like before we had our little pumpkin.
So, there you have it, a home tour of all our favourite fall finds. Where are your favourite places to shop for home decorations?
Happy Fall Ya’ll!
